President Trump signs Executive Order to End Gender Ideology

President Trump issued an executive order terminating “diversity, equity and inclusion” discrimination in the workforce for federal contractors and subcontractors. Most notably affecting women, minorities and other protected classes.
This executive order rescinds the previous executive order that’s been in place going on 60 years, in which prohibits such discrimination.
Over the years we’ve seen growth in the protection for people of color with the CROWN Act, Emmett Till Antilynching Act and the Criminal Justice Reform.
It was only 7 years ago when California passed the Gender Recognition Act, allowing people to identify as non-binary on things like driver’s licenses, birth certificates and even your passport. Just a decade ago, same-sex marriages were legalized in the United States.
However, on day one of Trump’s reign he also signed executive orders to eliminate “gender ideology” and “restore sanity” with recognizing only two sexes, male and female. Requiring that the government uses the term “sex” and not “gender”.
Several individuals have shared their concerns for their newly issued passports as it verifies the executive order is in place by stating only male or female.
Actress and star of HBO series “Euphoria” Hunter Schafer, who is also transgender, says even her passport lists her as male in a video via TikTok. In reference to whether she believed the executive order, she says, “I was like… I’ll believe it when I see it”, however she then stated in the video “today I saw it on my new passport”.
Previously the Biden administration made it possible for U.S. Citizens to select “X” which represents gender-neutral in 2022. Not even 5 years later the State Department’s website removed the access for updating passport gender markers.
In hopes to challenge the executive order, families of trans minors filed a federal lawsuit. The lawsuit expressed “governmental disapproval of transgender people who, by definition, have a gender identity that does not align with their sex designated at birth”.
On the flip side we also have those who identify as non-binary who are affected in similar ways. To get first-hand experience at these effects, I have a guest speaker UNÏX. He’s a singer & songwriter who identifies as non-binary.
The unfortunate fact is that things are changing again, and it could be looked at as we as people are regressing. Though there’s no real statistics behind that, but it’s a feeling that probably many can agree with including RuPaul’s Drag Race judge and TV Personality, Michelle Visage.
She took to her Instagram stories in defense of her child who is also transitioning. If you remember she gave a short interview last year discussing her experience raising a child who is transitioning.
